# September 2026 GMAS Release August 18, 2026 The September 2026 release will be available on **Friday, September 18th, 2026**. In support of this release, the system will be **unavailable starting at 6:00 PM ET on Thursday, September 17th**. GMAS will be available again no later than the start of business on Friday, September 18th. The primary focus of this release is to reintroduce the Grants.gov opportunity look-up functionality and a new field for identifying and tracking the NIH activity code in proposal entry. #### Opportunity Number Lookup and NIH Activity Code Recording **Related resources: TBD** **Reason**: Reimplementing the Grants.gov opportunity lookup and adding the ability to track the NIH activity code allows GMAS to capture additional opportunity details, supporting more accurate tracking and reporting. - Reinstated the [grants.gov](http://grants.gov) opportunity lookup API - Updated the Opportunity field on proposal entry and edit screen to call API to find opportunity data from [grants.gov](http://grants.gov) to import opportunity data and extract NIH activity code - Added a new NIH activity code field for proposals where NIH is the sponsor - Field will be automatically derived from opportunity data if successful match made when calling the API - Field will allow for manual selection if sponsor is NIH and opportunity data does not have a successful match made when calling the API - Did a call back with [grants.gov](http://grants.gov) API to match on previously entered opportunity numbers - If matches were successful, additional opportunity data, including NIH activity code, was will be pulled into GMAS #### Additional HERD Survey Support **Reason**: Finalize updates in GMAS to be fully aligned with University-wide HERD Survey reporting. - Removed the R&D requirement where the proposed A21 code is listed as A03 - Removed any data previously entered for R&D type for proposals with an A03 A21 code listed - Added ‘Other Life Sciences’ back into the Discipline code dropdown menu - Additional project updates to map projects back into the ‘Other Life Sciences’ category #### Additional Central Segment Revision Request Support **Reason**: Continued progress and bug fixes for the new segment revision request tracking module (available to central submitting office staff only). - Added ability to send a notification to someone when entering notes in the provide update modal - Updated the provide update language on the segment revision request screen to always display who the request is currently assigned to - Added ability to update the requestor and processor from the segment revision processing dashboard - Moved the year logic flag out of the account details and into the new award information panel and added to a new higher level panel on at-risk accounts - Will display as a yes, no question on the edit and view version of the screen - Moved the A21 code out of the account details and into the new award information panel and added to a new higher level panel on at-risk accounts - Removed the account attributes field within new account details and added a yes, no questions for On campus and Restricted funds - Restructured the account detail entry fields - Added notification recipients into the history modal - Fixed a bug preventing merge person activity when person is mentioned in the segment revision request - Fixed a bug where sponsors with more than 20 characters in their organization name were not displaying in the revision request view screen #### Other enhancements and bug fixes - Added comment functionality to sponsor notices - Changed ‘Central reviewer comments’ to instead read as ‘Central comments’ in all places the central comments appear - Update to current organization risk assessment status so that latest FY entry status is displayed when there is more than 1 record for the same fiscal year - Transaction monitoring rules for tracking the spending against subagreement object codes were updated - Awards with an award date prior to 7/1/2025, and awards where NIH is in any sponsor role on the award regardless of award date will follow the 25k rule which indicates that the first $25,000 in expenditures must be applied to object code 8190 before any expenses are applied to other subagreement object codes - Transaction monitoring reason code updated to read as “8190 capped at $25,000” - Awards where NIH is not in any sponsor role with an award date of 7/1/2025 or later will follow the 50k rule which indicates that the first $50,000 in expenditures must be applied to object code 8190 before any expenses are applied to other subagreement object codes - Transaction monitoring reason code updated to read as “8190 capped at $50,000” - Proposal A21 code option menu display order updated to A02, A03, A15, and A01 - New funding instrument created in support of strategic research support - Added notification recipients into the subagreement and subamendment history modal - Addressed formatting issues caused by major technical upgrade (PrimeFaces 14) - Name and role misalignment on add and edit research team modal - Non-financial deliverable “All” label alignment fix in additional recipients field - Person profile column adjustment in person name details - Financial deliverables approve modal action buttons overlap fixed - Financial deliverables final figure edit column overlapping with comments fixed - Addressed issues introduced by major technical updgrade (PrimeFaces 14) with financial deliverable dashboard comments that occurs after filtering on dates - Updated the receipts details screen so that when navigating back from breadcrumbs previously entered search criteria is still displayed. - Added new funding instrument type in segment revision. #### Other technical enhancements - Added ability to navigate to the admin module and ‘Switch back to me’ from person menu for GMAS staff - Created new admin module pages to support NIH activity code and [grants.gov](http://grants.gov) opportunity API - Built new date picker field where manual entry and calendar are separate in the tool-kit for future application implementation - Fixed PDS screen layout in the admin module available to GMAS staff - Clean Sappient framework references so GMAS log is clean when starting up the app - Addressed high security vulnerability from Github (for both GMAS and ecrt) - Remove hidden date field in master.xthml that was suppressing a console error - Fix optimistic locking exception in Page Views - Fixed session timeout warning and extended the active user session without requiring page reload - Renewal of CSMA jobs GPG keys for GMAS - Mail call connection moved from EWS to Microsoft Graph API - Created conditional email and batch header data for Mail call when successfully processing emails or a fail occurs (will continue to not email or record batch header data when processing 0 records) - Created new ID in RF\_GMAS\_INTERFACES for Mail call - Updates to database in support of enhancements and fixes.
