January 2026 GMAS Release
The January GMAS release will be available on Friday, January 16th.
In support of this release, the system will be unavailable starting at 6:00 PM ET on Thursday, January 15th.
The focus of this release is system updates in support of the annualization of the Research Security Training, continued technical updates to support future segment revision conversion, as well as other enhancements and bug fixes.
Research Security Training Refresher Course Support
Reason: Supporting the annual requirement for Research Security Training.

Enhancements
- Research Security Training statuses were updated to incorporate refresher course requirements (updated status display everywhere in the application Research Security Training requirement appears)
- New In progress status added to indicate an individual has started the course but not completed it yet
- Additional information displays with Research Security Training status of Needed and In progress to indicate whether the individuals training requirement is coming due, due now, or overdue
- Information icon will appear where an individual is coming due for their refresher course but the date course is due is not yet in the past
- Icon includes hover text with more information
- Warning icon will appear where an individual is currently in a state of never completing the Research Security Training or is overdue for their refresher training
- Icon includes hover text with more information
- Information icon will appear where an individual is coming due for their refresher course but the date course is due is not yet in the past
- Person profile Trainings panel updates:
- Research Security Training refresher course has been added to the Trainings panel in addition to the initial Research Security Training course
- Course completion date has been added for all courses in the Trainings panel
- Additional courses of interest have been added to the Trainings panel
- An Introduction to Export Control Laws and Regulations (University-Wide)
- Biomedical Responsible Conduct of Research (CITI)
- Engineering Responsible Conduct of Research (CITI)
- Physical Science Responsible Conduct of Research (CITI)
- Responsible Conduct of Research for Administrators (CITI)
- Social and Behavioral Responsible Conduct of Research (CITI)
- Trainings in the panel are now all links directly to the Harvard Training Portal where the courses can be completed

Bug Fixes
- Removed secondary action button from financial deliverables screen when there are no actions available
- Made contact type mandatory when moving a status to on hold from revision and back to ready for revision for subamendments
Technical upgrades
- Upgrade Python from 3.11 to 3.12.2 to build server
- Modified the build process to use symbolic link for all GMAS interfaces
